Just a family day at the beach. We shared pizza and just hung out together. The kids explored sand and sea. Great open spaces, wide skies and warm sun. I thought to myself…this is what kids need. Safe big open spaces with time to roam and explore. Time to get dirty and wet and find interesting things in nature.

E4 had fun squishing her feet through seaweed, and looking in rock pools. They drew pictures in the sand. B2 had so much fun he forgot to eat. R7 months enjoyed munching on pizza crusts and Mum and Dad enjoyed being together and watching everyone be happy.

Here’s another of E4’s latest creations. She drew the picture first and later added the playdough bits for the hair etc. It was all her own idea. I love the way she has used the yellow playdough for her blonde hair.

I love that children love to learn and that they see things we don’t notice anymore. Here’s a pic of B2 holding a pear core. D was cutting fruit for them and they took the time to look at it’s beauty together.

The other day, I decided we should bake together and so out came the flour and baking powder. We started mixing dry ingredients when I though it would make a great photo for this blog. Off I go to get the camera and came back to find this:

I’m pretty sure B2 was the main perpetrator (why would I think that?) and yet E4 was happy to help and they worked together sweeping the floor.

It was a lesson in “If you make a mess you clean it up”.

So after finally cleaning it all up at kid speed, we discovered that we had no eggs. So there was no baking after all. This was a lesson for me in “Check your recipe and ingredients before you start”. All was not lost….while we didn’t get to eat muffins, I guess we all learned something.

Yesterday E4 had a great time creating this little masterpiece! She spent such a long time on it and I think it’s beautiful.
